Am I skinny enough?

I actually had a different post planned for this months fitness fix but recent events have made me feel compelled to write this instead.
I’m not sure why but lately I seem to have had several conversations with friends and family about body image. The topics have ranged from body builders to ‘fitness models’ on Instagram but basically it all comes down to how we perceive ourselves.
I’ve had my own minor issues with body image but nothing compared to what some people go through. It actually makes me pretty mad to think about how much pressure some people put on themselves to ‘look good’.
So I decided to put myself out there a bit with the real me. I’m not a size zero, I don’t have a thigh gap and I haven’t been swimming for the past 6 weeks! I’m the most out of shape I have been in months but you know what… thats ok, sometimes you just have to give yourself a break (or listen to your doctor when they tell you to stay out the pool).
Usually I like to work out a few times a week to keep relatively fit but I also love coffee and cake and I will never give those things up.
I will never be ‘super skinny’ but as long as I feel happy and healthy thats the most important thing. It has taken me a really long time to accept myself exactly the way I am but it’s such an important thing to do. It’s definitely easier said than done but keep at it, you’re doing great!
eating cake in gym gear means the calories don’t count right?!
Yes exercise but also spend a whole day in your PJs binge watching netflix!
Eat loads of veg but don’t forget to treat yourself with a cake or two every now and again.
Find a balance that works for you, love your body and look after it but remember its important to have some time to relax and unwind every so often. There’s no one else like you and that’s pretty damn special.
